It is crucial to perform maintenance on your pavers as needed, most likely every 2 to 3 years, depending on the weather, traffic and climate conditions in your area. Cleaning, Sanding and Sealing is a great way to make your pavers look great again! This service prevent pavers from cracking or shifting as a result of missing sand. Applying sealer protects and enhances your pavers and make your routine maintenance easy and fast. Paver installation is an investment of time, energy, and money; ensure that it continues to be a point of pride for years to come by performing regular maintenance.
The Paver Wash three-stage-system is specifically designed to help remove efflorescence, oil, dirt, rust, skid marks and other organic and non-organic stains to restore the original stability and vibrancy of your pavers in the most cost-effective way possible. Unlike semi-cosmetic power wash offerings, Paver Restoration is a full-service solution—Steam cleaning, tuning and sealing your pavers to ensure long-lasting beauty. Our restoration experts help identify potential problem areas such as missing sand, root hazards, and uneven pavers in order to pre-empt future, potentially expensive, damage.
Paver Wash offers a full-service restoration system—including cleaning, maintenance and sealant—as well as minor repair work. Cleaning pavers is an art form. After more than ten years, Paver Wash has perfected the three-stage process that provides the most efficient, cost-effective method of restoring and protecting your pavers. Stage One is a professional power wash using superior cleaning agents specifically designed for paving stones. Stage Two includes applying supplemental join sand to ensure all gaps are eliminated and joints are secure. Finally, in Stage Three, customers choose their desired sealer finish (natural, enhance, low-gloss, high-gloss) to bind the sand, protect the pavers, prevent weed growth and unwanted pests and enhance the natural beauty of the stones.
Frequently exposed to harsh weather, dust, dirt, traffic and other elements that may contribute to wear, stains and damage, we recommend that you clean and seal your pavers regularly to protect your investment and keep your pavers looking their best. Sealers make maintenance easier, adding an extra layer of protection and preventing more serious stains. Additionally, our sealers contain stabilizing properties to help prevent joint sand from washing away and causing structural issues that might otherwise arise.
Only licensed, insured professionals that specialize in paver restoration should be engaged to clean, restore or seal your pavers. Generic pressure wash companies are generally not familiar with the intricacies of the interlocking paver system and may inadvertently damage your pavers. Three common pitfalls to avoid are: 1.) incorrect water pressure which can lead to damaged paver surfaces and loss of joint sand. 2.) Cleaning chemicals not specifically designed for use on pavers that may cause permanent discoloration and other unsightly interactions. 3.) Incorrect sealer application that may cause irreparable damage to your pavers and require replacing the entire installation. Pavers are an investment in your property and should be protected as such. 4.) excessive sealer application can cause the surface to become white may cause irreparable damage to your pavers.
Joint sand installed between pavers is an integral part of the interlocking paver system. Providing stability to keep the stones from shifting under pressure, working to prevent water from seeping underneath, and blocking pests and weeds, it is critical to ensure that joint sand is filled as needed to keep your pavers at their best.
While the restoration timing may vary depending on the severity of the pavers being treated, one to three days is typical for a complete cleaning, joint sand, and sealing. Note that if pavers stripping is necessary, an additional one to three days may be required to complete the cycle.
For restoration services, we prefer to use premium pavers joint sand in a “wet sanding" installation process. We apply joint sand, devoid of debris and seeds, in a wet sanding process which can be applied immediately after cleaning. This allows the sand to easily fill gaps before it is dried. Then we finished with a special stabilizing formula sealer, that binds with the joint sand with the existing sand and pavers together to provide stability to keep the stones from shifting under pressure, working to prevent water from seeping underneath, and blocking pests and weeds and to keep your pavers at their best. We do not recommend using polymeric sand for pavers restoration, as 1. Polymeric sand carries the risk of creating haze on your pavers during its installation process (usually very difficult to remove and involve extra cost). 2. A layer of polymeric sand at least 1.5’’ thick is needed in order to be effective, requiring old joint sand to be removed before installation. 3. If polymeric sand is added on top of existing joint sand, whether it’s regular or polymeric, it does not bind effectively to the sand already present. 4. Polymeric sand prolongs the pavers restoration process, making it more costly. We do recommend the use of polymeric sand for complete new pavers installation projects.
In between professional cleaning and restoration services, here are some steps you can take to maintain your pavers are:
      • Use a leaf blower to remove debris and dirt from your paver surface and joint areas.
      • Wash your pavers with soap water and a flat top hose attachment.
      • Fill in gaps and holes with additional joint sand.
For large stains or structural changes in your paver system due to roots or soil movement, contact Paver Wash for a free estimate.
Many products that claim to be suitable for cleaning pavers are not actually designed, nor safe, to use. If you are working with store bought products, be sure to read the instructions carefully and test the product on a small, discreet, area prior to applying on a larger scale. Damaging or discoloring your pavers may require them to be replaced so saving a little up front may end up costing much more later on if you aren’t careful.
Paver Wash uses only premium sealers specifically designed, tested and produced for use with pavers. We work with reputable VOC compliant manufacturers, such as Alliance Gator and BP Pro, known for producing quality products that get great results. While sealers come in both water based and solvent based solutions, we use only joint stabilizing, water-based products due to the environmental impact and health risks of solvents. Solvents have a tendency to produce strong, undesirable odors during installation and can cause irreparable damage to equipment, clothing, plants and more. Our sealers come in a variety of finishes including natural look and enhanced look. Our paver restoration experts are available to help you determine which sealer is best for your project.
Paver Wash offers minor paver repair services. Please consult our paver restoration expert to determine whether your project is a fit.
While Paver-Wash strives for excellence with each project, much like most dry cleaners, we cannot guarantee results. Some stains can be removed and some cannot be removed completely. We take pride in our work and our proven, three-stage restoration service offers the most cost-effective, comprehensive and celebrated paver cleaning system available. Our goal is complete customer satisfaction and we will work tirelessly with you to achieve your desired results.
While various factors such as exposure to weather and other natural elements, surface impact, and the type and style of the sealer selected will contribute to the longevity of your sealer, on average our products last from two to five years.
